(Canadian-American philosopher, 1943–). Author of Neurophilosophy: Toward a Unified Science of the Mind-Brain; along with her husband, Paul, the Churchlands are often associated with eliminative materialism, a school of thought that identifies the mind with the brain and suggests that neuroscience will eventually lead us to abandon such everyday concepts as free will and belief.
