Avram Noam Chomsky
(American linguist, philosopher and political radical, 1928–). Chomsky is perhaps the most often cited of contemporary thinkers. His early critique of behaviourism and his concept of generative grammar revolutionized the field of linguistics and have had important implications for psychology, philosophy of mind and philosophy of language.
