Emma Goldman

(Lithuanian-born anarchist political philosopher and feminist, 1869–1940). Known as "Red Emma", Goldman was a controversial figure who was imprisoned three times in the United States before eventually being deported. She was perhaps the first person to synthesize gender politics and anarchist theory, and her speeches and writings comprised a major contribution to anarchist philosophy in Europe and America during the first half of the twentieth century.
