William Edward Burghardt Du Bois



(African American sociologist, criminologist and scholar, 1868–1963). Du Bois was the most prominent intellectual leader and political activist for African Americans during the first half of the twentieth century; he is the author of over 4,000 books and essays including The Philadelphia Negro, The Souls of Black Folk, Black Reconstruction, Black Folk, Then and Now, and The Negro.
